The 18-year-old’s promising life was cut short Saturday after she suffered what doctors believe was a fatal reaction to anesthesia during breast augmentation surgery.Nearly two hours into the surgery, Kuleba was rushed to Delray Medical Center, where she died 24 hours later, said the family’s attorney Roberto Stanziale. It’s a hot issue for cosmetic surgery professionals and the general public that whether a teen should go for a cosmetic procedure or remain away from going under a knife. In the above stated particular case, Kuleba was died due to the fatal reaction to anesthesia and this could not be attributed to cosmetic surgery. But it opens our eyes to be careful when taking a major procedure.
The basic reason behind cosmetic surgery and teens issue are the physical changes related to growth. A teenager body is not completed the growth period and he or she is immature by both sides, physically and mentally. So the post operative complications sometime become awesome and fatal.

Rhinoplasty: It’s the most used cosmetic procedure in teens. It is a nose job. To reshape the nose and give it a nice look, rhinoplasty is carried out. ASAPS recommends the rhinoplasty for teens when their nose growth is completed 90%. For girls, it is 13 to 14 years and for boys, it is 15 to 16 years of age.
Breast Reduction: Big boobs become a problem and produce back and shoulder pain. To get rid of big or uneven breasts, breast reduction surgery is performed. It is recommended when the physical growth of breasts is completed.
Note: In breast related problems, federal law do not allow to use the breast implants.
Gynecomastia: Some teenage boys may face the excessive breast development called Gynecomastia. It can cause a psychological problem. To reduce the breast size, excessive tissues are removed. According to American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) 15,550 Gynecomastia procedures were performed in year 2008.
Liposuction: Liposuction may be applied to those teens which are having excessive body fat and can not treated by normal procedures of weight reduction. In this procedure, excessive fat tissues are removed.

According to ASAPS there were total 10 million surgical and non surgical procedures were performed in 2008. Only 2 percent were performed on the age group 18 and under. I agree with some of these surgeries but not all of them. We shouldn’t worry about male teens who are trying to reduce their breasts, for example. 2 percent is not a lot if you look at the type of surgery performed.
